Specialised in exotic flowers

We are one of the few companies that only imports Protea, Leucospermum and Cape Greens. This was a deliberate choice, because we prefer to do one thing extremely well. We focus all of our efforts on these exotic plants, so we do not have to spread our attention over a wide range of products. The benefit to you is that we only work with these exotics, so we know the market through-and-through and we can give 100% to provide our customers with the highest quality!

From our location at the FloraHolland flower auction in Aalsmeer, we work with a permanent team of specialists. Our small team, with short lines of communication between management and the shop floor, works hard to process the flowers for our customers. We serve a large number of clients that include respected flower exporters, wholesalers and garden centres.

Quality is #1!

We receive shipments of flowers several times per week, and we unpack them all ourselves. All of the shipments are inspected for quality upon arrival, because the quality of our flowers is the foundation for providing successful service. Thanks to our good contacts with the growers, we are able to meet our clients' needs almost year-round, with a selection of high-quality products.

De Mooij Import started in 2003 as a small importer of Proteas from Portugal, but we quickly began importing from South Africa, where Proteas grow in the wild. In the years that followed, De Mooij Import grew to become one of the largest importers of Protea, Leucospermum and Cape Greens. In addition to South Africa and Portugal, we also import flowers from Spain, Australia and Malawi.

Optimal coordination of supply and demand

Our subsidiary De Mooij Export is located at Cape Town International Airport in the home of the Protea, South Africa. Most of our product selection comes from this beautiful country. Thanks to our daily contact with our location in South Africa, we are optimally placed to coordinate supply and demand.

With our own location in South Africa, De Mooij can arrange both import and export in-house. That is our greatest strength! The lines of communication between South Africa and the Netherlands are direct and very short, which enables us to adapt to changes in the market very rapidly. We also supervise the entire logistical chain, from grower to customer, which allows us to guarantee the quality of our products.
